Pigments and Fillers: Color, Function, and Performance
Thanks to our long-standing collaboration with DCC/Lansco, Garzanti Specialties offers a wide range of organic and inorganic pigments suitable for all plastic processing technologies.
Fluorescent and phosphorescent pigments are used to give plastic products luminous effects. Fluorescent pigments absorb light and immediately re-emit it as more intense light. Phosphorescent pigments absorb light and release it gradually over time, emitting a visible glow even in the dark, without the need for a continuous light source.
These pigments are compatible with many processing technologies and can be incorporated into compounds or masterbatches to ensure stable and long-lasting effects.
Our fluorescent and phosphorescent pigments are supplied by the historic manufacturer Swada.
Pearlescent pigments
give materials a visual appearance similar to mother-of-pearl. Supplied to Garzanti Specialties by the specialist company Young Bio, they lend plastics metallic effects and shimmering, iridescent colors.
Our catalog also includes opaque iron oxides for deep, uniform, and matte coloration. Depending on the oxidation state of the iron and the production process, these pigments can produce a variety of shades.
Titanium Dioxide
Among our flagship products is titanium dioxide, available in various formulations depending on the polymer used and the final application. We are the official distributors in Italy of chloride-process titanium dioxide from Chemours.
Barium Sulfate
Also known as “blanc fixe” – is used as a filler to enhance density, rigidity, and dimensional stability in formulations.
In partnership with Solvay, we offer high-purity precipitated barium sulfate (synthetic grade), available in a range of particle sizes.
Next-Generation Fluorinated Technologies
Garzanti Specialties is an authorized distributor of Chemours fluoropolymers, among the most advanced on the market. These include PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), PFA (perfluoroalkoxy alkane), FEP (fluoroethylene propylene), and ETFE (ethylene tetrafluoroethylene), also known under the Teflon brand.
PTFE is available in all formats—dispersion, micropowder, fine powder, and granular—and is also suitable for isostatic molding.
These materials are widely used across various industries thanks to their unique properties: exceptional chemical resistance, thermal stability, and a very low coefficient of friction.
Stabilizing Additives for Polymer Protection
Garzanti Specialties’ portfolio includes the main types of light stabilizers – additives designed to protect polymers from UV – induced degradation:
- UV Absorbers, such as benzotriazoles and benzophenones
- HALS (Hindered Amine Light Stabilizers), which interrupt light-induced degradation mechanisms
- Optical brighteners, which help prevent polymer yellowing
Release Agents for Polymer Processing
Release agents are chemical substances used to facilitate the removal of molded plastic parts from their molds. In partnership with Henkel, Garzanti Specialties distributes Frekote, a line of semi-permanent release agents that remain effective over multiple cycles. These agents can be applied to a wide variety of materials, including advanced composites and fiberglass-reinforced polyester parts.
