In 2022, climatic conditions have again adversely impacted fodde production. Corn silag was particularly affected by the strong summer heat and rainfall shortages. So how can we improve the diet of far animals when the quality and quantity of silage is simply not sufficient?
The decrease in corn silage yields.
Corn silage yields have decreased by 15-50%. This decrease varies regionally, depending on the level of drought and soil quality.
As far as nutritional values are concerned, preliminary analyse show a significantly reduced starch content compared to previous years with a sharp decrease in overall palatability. So we are suffering from a lack of quantity and declining quality. In short:
- Yields are decreasing
- Grain content is low or very low
- There is an increase in NDF content, reducing the digestibility
Improving digestibility is a priority.
Feed digestibility will be a limiting factor for milk production and growth performance in the coming year. Taking into account the price of raw materials, improving the digestibility of the basic feed is a priority.
Furthermore, in the event of silage shortages, it is better to maximize production per cow than to distribute silage to less productive animals.

How can we tackle this challenge?
Our partner Jefo has developed Eazystim, a product composed of three fermentation extracts (Aspergillus oryzae, Trichoderma viride, Bacillus subtilis), which ensure a more thorough degradation of the feed, due to induced enzymatic activities and a synergistic effect with the ruminal microbiota that increases the hydrolytic action on the feed ration.
In dairy cows, Eazystim can be used in the following diets:
- Fibre-rich (grass silage, hay, straw)
- Mixed (silage/hay)
- Those based on corn silage with low digestibility (dNDF, starch degradability)
Eazystim also delivers excellent results in beef cattle and small ruminants.
Eazystim improves the digestibility of livestock diets!!
